Pool Filter Cleaning & Replacement
Keep your water crystal clear with professional filter maintenance and replacement.

Your Filter Is the Heart of Clear Water
Your pool filter does more work than any other piece of equipment. It runs for hours every day, pulling dirt, debris, oils, and tiny particles out of your water. When your filter is clean and working right, your pool stays crystal clear. When it is dirty or damaged, your water gets cloudy no matter how many chemicals you add.
Most pool owners do not clean their filters often enough. They assume the filter is fine because the pump is running. But inside, the filter media gets clogged with trapped debris. Your pump has to work harder, your water circulation slows down, and clarity suffers. Eventually, the filter stops working effectively at all.
At HCP Haltom City Pool Services, we specialize in filter cleaning and replacement for all types of pool filters. We know exactly how often each type needs attention, and we can tell when a filter needs to be replaced instead of just cleaned.
We Service All Types of Pool Filters
There are three main types of pool filters, and each one needs different care:
- •Sand Filters: These use special sand to trap debris. They need backwashing every few weeks and a complete sand change every 3 to 5 years. Sand filters are popular because they are low-maintenance and reliable.
- •Cartridge Filters: These have a pleated cartridge that catches particles. You need to remove and clean the cartridge every month or so, and replace it every 1 to 2 years. Cartridge filters give you very clear water when maintained properly.
- •DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filters: These use a fine powder to filter tiny particles. They provide the clearest water but need the most attention. You need to backwash them and add fresh DE powder regularly, plus clean the grids inside a few times per year.
No matter what type of filter you have, we have the expertise and equipment to service it properly. We have worked with every filter brand and model available in Haltom City.
Signs Your Filter Needs Attention
How do you know when your filter needs professional cleaning or replacement? Watch for these warning signs:
Your water stays cloudy even though your chemicals are balanced. This is the biggest sign. When your filter cannot keep up with debris removal, you get that foggy, murky look that never clears up.
Your pressure gauge reads higher than normal. Most filters have a pressure gauge on top. When the reading goes up 8 to 10 PSI above your clean starting pressure, it means the filter is clogged and needs service.
Your pump runs but water flow seems weak. A clogged filter restricts water flow, making your returns produce less pressure. You might notice your pool takes longer to circulate properly.
If you are seeing any of these issues, call us for filter service. Waiting too long can damage your pump and cost you more money. Many customers also add our weekly pool cleaning service which includes filter monitoring as part of regular maintenance.
What We Do During Filter Service
Our filter cleaning service is thorough and complete. We do not just backwash your filter and call it done. Here is what you get:
For cartridge filters, we remove the cartridge completely and deep clean it with a special filter cleaner and high-pressure water. We inspect every pleat for damage or wear. If the cartridge is torn, crushed, or too worn to clean effectively, we recommend replacement and can install a new one on the spot.
For sand filters, we perform a thorough backwash to flush out trapped debris. If your sand is old or clumped, we recommend a complete sand change. Fresh sand makes a huge difference in water clarity. We also check your multiport valve for leaks or damage.
For DE filters, we backwash the system, clean the grids inside, and recharge it with fresh DE powder. The grids get coated with old DE and oils over time, so we make sure they are completely clean before adding new powder. This gives you maximum filtering power.
Filter Challenges in Haltom City
Haltom City pools put extra demand on filters. Our hot weather means your pool gets used more, which means more sunscreen, body oils, and debris in the water. Dust and pollen from the area also load up your filter faster than in other climates.
This is why we recommend more frequent filter service here than the manufacturers suggest. What works in a cooler climate does not work in Texas heat. We base our recommendations on real-world experience with hundreds of local pools, not just what the manual says.
